Directorate of Logistics
Directorate of Logistics is headed by an Assistant
Commissioner of Police (ACP) and assisted by a Senior Superintendent (Snr/Supt).
Prior to August 1995, the Directorate of Logistics used to be known as 'C' Department.
It was one of the Departments within the Directorate of Administration.
Amongst the responsibilities are to ensure that:-
- Housing facilities are properly maintained.
- Continued supply of police uniforms and equipment.
- Provision of adequate transport for all Departments and
Formations.
- Maintenance of computer main frame.
- Maintenance of airport security equipment.
- Maintenance of radio communications.
- Maintenance of good liaison with Telecommunication's Department.
The Directorate of Logistics is composed of the following major Divisions/Units:-
Building Maintenance Unit
A B$1.5 million project - the Rifle and Pistol Target Range,
is under construction since September 1997. It is located at Jalan Aman. along Jalan
Muara and is due for completion in June 1998. It consists of 8 lanes with a maximum
shooting distance of 100 metres. Intermediate shooting distances were also provided
at 75 metres, 50 metres, 25 metres and 10 metres.
Principal Features:
It is designed with side and overhead protection from stray shots into close proximity
housing.
One bank of 8 pop-up target mechanisms with integral microprocessor control to support
a wide range of training applications.
Night Light and Muzzle Flash Simulator Units fitted to each pop-up target.
One bank of 8 rotary targets mechanisms with integral microprocessor control and
design specifically for tactical police training applications.
All targets are fitted with hit sensor electronics employing the latest technology
to filter and suppress false hits.
Centralised range computer system supporting automatic control, user programmed control
and manual control of all target functions.
Electronic hit and miss detection system (LOMAH) able to maintain a high degree of
accuracy independently of environmental conditions.
The range is equipped with a lecture room which can accommodate up to 50 trainees,
with audio visual facilities such as overhead projector, television and video cassette
player, range officer's room, kitchen, separate ladies/men's toilet, warden house,
first aid room, store room and security lighting and fencing.
- ID Parade Room:
The force will soon have a new air conditioned Identification
Parade room which consists of 12 line up position for suspect to be identified by
witnesses without the latter been seen by the former. It has a one-way mirror partition
and intercom facility to instruct suspect to face any direction. It is located on
the ground floor of Brunei District Crime Office, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The estimated cost of the project is B$28,000, which is due for completion by end
of the year 1997 and expected to be utilised by 1998. The ID Parade Room is designed
to be used by all police districts.
- Police Control Posts:
3 new air conditioned police control posts, namely, Lumapas,
Bebuloh and Kuala Lurah Police Control Posts, had been completed using portable cabins
to replace the old wooden houses, and were handed over to the Operation Department
in 1997.
The Commissioner of Police officiated the Opening Ceremony of Kuala Lurah and Lumapas
Police Control Post on 25th January 1997, and as for Bebuloh Police Control Post,
the ceremony took place on 9th October 1997. The posts are manned 24 hours by the
Reserve Unit personnel, basically to control cross border and criminal activities.
The estimated cost for the posts are approximately B$95,000, which has facilities
such as kitchen, toilet and rest room.

The Royal Brunei Police Force hosted the 7th ASEANAPOL Database
Technical Committee Meeting in 1997, commencing from 28th April until 1st May.
Members of the Committee comprise Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines,
Singapore and Thailand, Vietnam attended as observer.
Such meeting is normally held once a year and organised by respective members. The
main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the progress of the database as well as
to streamline its Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Brunei Darussalam was presented by the officers of the Logistic Department, namely,
ASP Sallehan, ASP Pg Mohd Jefri and Insp Jipon. The next meeting will be held in
Bali, Indonesia.
As from 1st of August 1997 the ASEANAPOL Database System were to accept only genuine
cases as per agreed in its Standard Operating Procedures. Therefore all 'dummy data'
used for testing the system were deleted.

1997 has its significant events:
- QAF Auto Sdn Bhd Brunei presented 7 units BMW motorcycles model R850R to the Police
for VVIP escorts. The motorcycles were then handed over to Traffic Investigation
and Control Department on the same day.
- Another ceremony took place in 1997 was the handing over
of 2 units of special purpose vehicles namely armoured personnel carrier and armoured
assault vehicle to Special Operation Section.
- Armoury Section
The unit was still kept busy with ongoing replacement process
of 'SLR' rifles to M16A. Whilst the old but serviceable ones are still being maintained.
